I should've knocked on wood.

It seems like I'm always listening to my sister's stories of her kids cutting their hair. She has 4 and I think each of them has at least done it once and some twice... except for little Cole, but he's just 2, so there's still time. haha! ;) Sorry, Mical! Go knock on some wood now... for real.

Anyway, I was on the phone and picking up some toys in the kids' playroom for only like 2 minutes, when I came downstairs to see Scarlett sitting on my computer chair in the kitchen with a wide-eyed look, hair all over her, and scissors in her little hands.... and Kanyon was saying, "oh my gosh, Scarlett." My sweet little angel had chopped one of her piggie tails 3/4 of the way off.
I know, I know... it could most definitely be worse. It could have been to the scalp, but this was NOT good. Do you all remember this post? I was so happy in that moment, so rightfully so I was devastated in this moment today. I can't say I didn't shed a tear or two and it took all but 10 minutes before I was on the phone making her an appointment, with the girl that does my hair, for a "fix". I've never cut one strand of hair on her head because it took 2 1/2 years to get the little crop that she had. She barely had peach fuzz at her 1st birthday... you can see it here.

Scarlett was not very sad about her trim she gave herself. She cried of course when she saw me upset, but that was short lived. I mean, check our her mischievous little smirk here.
After taking her to Hailee this evening and talking about it... a "bob" was really the only option. Scarlett was as proud as ever to sit up in that chair like a big girl.

I took these 2 pictures with my phone. Have to document the first official hair cut.
She was excited about the pink chair and the pink blow dryer. ;)
The cut really turned out cute on her and who knows... maybe it'll even start to grown in faster now that it's been cut.

Yes, I'm trying to focus on the bright side a bit here. And lucky for us, we got family pictures done LAST week. By they way, you can see some of them here... isn't Courtney fabulous?!? Love, love, LOVE them.

All in all, it could have been worse. I hope she got it out of her system because if she lops off a pigtail once she's got gorgeous, thick, long hair... well, I'm not sure I even want to be present to see my reaction. ;)

Oh, wow. The new cut is super cute, though. (The bob, that is. ;) )
The smirk picture is awesome. She DOES look proud of herself. lol

Oh Meghan, I'm knocking on wood as I'm reading your blog because my friends little girl just chopped her hair off too (in the front) and it's something I can picture Saxon doing to Bridger. Actually, I'm more afraid that Jeff will do it to Bridger one of these days...he keeps threatening and asking "how mad would you really be?" Her bob is cute though!

I had to come out of lurker-ville and comment on this one! My 4 year old did the same thing this week. Only her hair was slightly past her shoulders and she cut all the hair on one side and as far as she could reach in the back, leaving any where from 1-4 inches of hair. It's awful! I still can't bring myself to post pictures yet. I'm sorry you had to go through the same drama!

p.s. love your blog, pictures, etc. I *tried* to do the picture a day thing but only made it about 4 months!
