We've got the sickies...

Kanyon started not being himself right after preschool on Monday and quickly came down with something by the end of the day. I took him to the on call pediatrician that night and both swine flu and strep tests came back negative. Monday night, Scarlett started with the fever and didn't sleep well.

I took these pictures early in the day on Tuesday... Kanyon informed me he did not want to be photographed, poor guy was not doing well.

Scarlett wasn't feeling so bad that she still couldn't turn it on for the camera, at least for a moment. :)
Kanyon had a hot, hot fever that day and I couldn't keep it under control with tylenol, motrin, and baths... so off to the doctors we went again that afternoon, this time to his regular pediatrician. Kanyon's temp was 103 orally when we got there and they were very concerned... his oxygen levels were down in the low 80's too so they started to think pneumonia until Scarlett tested positive for strep. They tested Kanyon and he was still negative... but after 2 breathing treatments, his oxygen was going back up, so it wasn't pneumonia. They gave both kids a shot for strep and it was the longest shot ever! I guess that's the trade off if you don't want to be giving antibiotics 2x's a day for the next 10 days. ;) They put Kanyon on steriods for his breathing and told me I had to give breathing treatments every 3 hours through the night or it would mean a hospital stay again. No, thank you!

So, what could make it worse? Steve comes down with some viral thing last night and I'm left to feed the baby, comfort Scarlett, and give breathing treatments to Kanyon through the night. No time for sleep. Don't you just love motherhood? I'm tired and just praying that Cohen and I stay healthy now!

Today has been like night and day compared to yesterday... the kids are playing, coughing just a little, eating better, breathing treatments are the norm over here, and Scarlett is the only one that still has a small fever. Steve, however, has been banished to the bedroom until further notice.

I'm hoping for things to be back to a healthy normal by the end of the week!

That sounds awful Meghan! Hopefully you and the baby stay healthy! Jake and I had what I am pretty sure was the swine flu a few months ago and Emmett never got it - these babies are resilient sometimes.

Glad to hear that the kids are on the upswing and I hope by now Steve is too! Poor little K . . . I can just see the fever in that sweet, flushed face of his. Hugs, Mommy for being Super Woman! :-)
