My oldest baby...

... is FIVE!

I can't believe I have a 5 year old. At least I'm happy to say that although Kindergarten could be in Kanyon's future this fall, that he won't be going until next year. That takes a little bit of anxiety away... at least for now. :)

Here he is on the morning of his actual birthday, July 22nd. He's opening presents from Steve and I.
His party theme this year is based on the movie "How to Train your Dragon", so we knew he'd love all these things...

I had a hair appointment that night that I couldn't reschedule, so we took him out for a birthday lunch. He chose Tucanos of all places. I guess he loves that they bring the meat out on "swords" and he got to play a tambourine while they sang to him. :) He also picked a new Iron Man2 toy at the Disney store that Scarlett gave to him. It was a fun afternoon and I'm so glad that Steve has a job that allows him to be flexible for days like this.

Saturday night, my family came over for Kanyon's choice of dinner and cake and ice cream. He chose grilled cheese sandwiches, watermelon, and apple slices. I had to laugh, but I went with it. I threw in a salad and some chips and omitted the apple slices, but I think he was pretty happy about it.

Here is the cake that I made for him... a viking helmet to go with his party theme.
Opening presents from Grandma and Grandpa and Great Grandma and Grandpa.

And finally being sung to and ready to blow out his candles...

Definitely a success. He is excited about 5 and even tells strangers in the store and on the street that he just turned 5.

Now, the count down to his friend party... he's really looking forward to it in a couple days!
(I, on the other hand, have a lot to do and can't wait for it to be over! ;) haha!)
