Snapshot: Kanyon at 3 yrs, 3 weeks, 6 days

(day 230)

Kanyon's turn! :)

Kanyon is a lovable boy. He can be heard daily asking me, "you okay, Mom?" or saying, "______, I like you." If you respond back that you like him he'll always reply, "You do?" He is so imaginative and tells me things that I have no idea how he came up with. He always tells me about his friends and how my friends that I've had for years are "not your friends, Mom... they're my friends." He will tell me that he's going somewhere and put up his little pointer finger and say, "I'll just be back in 1 minute."

He loves the super heros these days. He loves batman, ironman, and spiderman the best, I think. But any super hero will do. He loves to watch his "shows" and regularly chooses from his top favs that we tivo for him... Little Einsteins, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Batman, Clifford, and Sesame Street. He loves to color and a most recent fav of watercoloring. He always asks to "paint". He's great at puzzles and hardly has to look at the piece before knowing just where to place it.

Kanyon enjoys baseball especially at the moment but since he's too young to play on a real team, he does gymnastics and swim lessons for the time being and he really likes both of those. He sleeps on the top bunk of his bunkbeds and really feels like such a big boy that way. We are trying to get rid of the pacifers at night and have talked about giving his pacifers to the garbageman one of these days. I just need to actually try and be home on the day and time that the garbageman comes to follow through with it. ;)

Kanyon is really smart and knows the alphabet and recognizes quite a few of his letters. In fact, yesterday, we were in the car down by Payson and he saw the "P" on the mountain and said to me, "Mom! There's a P on that mountain. P for Paityn!" (Paityn is his good friend and the word that he always associates with the letter P.) He did the same thing the other day we drove by McDonald's and said, "Look! There's M for Mom!" He's an observant kid and very interested in learning which means I hear the "why?" question about 500 times a day.

He has a favorite song and is sure to tell us every time "Leavin" by Jesse McCartney comes on the radio, "Hey, it's my favorite song!" When he wakes up in the morning or from a nap in the afternoon, he always comes out of his room and says, "I had a good night." His all-time favorite thing to eat is yogurt. It's like I came home with a big bag of candy when I show up from grocery shopping with yogurt. He gets giddy.

Kanyon has picked up several things that I say as well as Steve... but he seems to always be saying "oh gosh!" and for some reason when he forgets about something, he says... "I got forgot!" Not sure where the "got" part comes from. ;) He is an outgoing kid when he knows you or is in a setting with not a lot of people, but he can get shy very fast and will usually hide once he realizes everyone is looking at him or he seems to have more attention than he wanted.

He is such a good big brother and can be so helpful sometimes. He'll grab a diaper or wetwipes for me when I ask for them. He plays with Scarlett pretty good, but has gone through an adjustment period since she started walking and getting into things he doesn't want her in. ;) She just wants to be with him all the time, so that must say something about how he is with her.

Here are some photos taken today...

What a cute idea! I may have to steal the "snapshot" idea. I'm always telling myself that I need to write more in my journal about the kids and what they're doing. I think I'd be more inclined to do it if it was a blogging thing! :)
