Football

Can't say that I'm sad to see the season come to an end... As fun as it is hosting football party after football party, I'm ready to celebrate something other than football. I'm also ready to be done making wings and various dips. ;) Steve was sad that his Bears didn't make it to the Superbowl... but they were close and there's always next year, right?

Here is Steve and Kelan on the day that the Bears played the Packers. Decked out in Bears stuff.

Kelan is a pretty cute football fan!

Here's a snapshot I found on my iPhone... must have been one of the kids. But, it's proof that I was a good supportive wife and had my one and only Bears shirt on as well.

Kanyon was sporting his Cutler jersey too, although I failed to get a picture of him. Scarlett and Cohen were the only none supporting members of the house. I'm sure now that Steve knows this, that situation will be remedied by next season. ;)

With football over now, I'm happily reminded that we are one step closer to Spring!! Now, that is something to celebrate.

Dinner and Home Run Derby

We spent the night of Kelan's blessing up the canyon eating KFC, watching the kids play at the park and the boys play home run derby. Just for the record... James killed it. He beat his big bros by a long shot. ;) Too bad I didn't even get a shot of him hitting!

Here's Scott.

Steve's turn.

Brenda had a turn and did really good! Check out all that fall color in the trees too... it was really pretty up there, I need to go back and capture that a little better.

The kids took turns too. It was tough because it was just a stick... not a real bat, so it was pretty skinny. Maya was first.

Then Kanyon.

And Scarlett even took a turn.

Scarlett and Aliyah are buddies lately... it's cute to watch them play together now.

Thank goodness for Alli (James' girlfriend)... she was really helpful with the little kids that wear us all out.

It was a perfect night... perfect weather and so fun to be together.

A gorgeous summer evening...

It was so nice outside one night last week and Kanyon was asking to go on a walk because he wanted to show his dad how good on his bike he is becoming. Scarlett decided to ride her bike too and I couldn't believe how similar in size they looked riding their bikes together and how cute too. I wish I would've taken my camera on the walk and taken a picture of them riding up ahead of us. I'll have to do that another time.

After our walk, Kanyon and Steve played basketball while Scarlett rode Kanyon's F150. She's finally getting the hang of steering and backing up, but still needs to be reminded to watch out for Cohen. Cohen walked around throwing basketballs and rocks while I laid on the grass because I was in pain. I must have overdone it that day because I took a long walk with the kids in the morning too and it's a fast paced walk trying to keep up with Kanyon on his bike while pushing the other 2 in the jogging stroller. Then on our walk that evening, I got caught talking with a friend and had to run (yes, really run - I'm sorry for any neighbors that had to witness it) to catch up with my family. That gave me a major side ache and instant contractions. I learned that even though I can physically still run, I probably shouldn't. haha!

A few funny dunk shots of Steve on the hoop set at 7 ft. for Kanyon to shoot on...

Kanyon shooting hoops. He's really getting good and we've seen so many improvements in him over the last couple of months since we got this hoop put in. He can make it easy now and is dribbling and catching passes... while when we first got the hoop he was too afraid to even catch the basketball. Steve couldn't be prouder.

Looking forward to many more summer nights like this one... minus the pain for me! ;) I'd like to participate more next time instead of being literally stuck laying in the grass. Just 8ish weeks to go before it'll be our family of 6 playing outside instead of 5. :)

My little ballerina

According to Scarlett, this move is called "kissy heels". Apparently she'll be learning the proper terminology later in life. ;)

I have awaited this day for a very long time since finding out the little baby in my belly was going to be a girl. I loved dancing as a child and so far, the same is true of Scarlett. She is still only two, but was allowed in the three year old class after a trial run. Most of the moms there were surprised to find out she was still only two and listens so well. I think that's from her being in gymnastics from the time she was about 16 months until last month. She is used to listening to a teacher and following directions. I love getting to watch her learning things that seem so awkward for her little body, but she's catching on.

Her favorite part? Wearing a pink little outfit of course. ;) Oh, and that she gets to dance to Disney Princess music for the entire class time. Two very important things to an almost 3 year old.
(Cohen is trying to grab her skirt below)
Kanyon wasn't up for much in the photo department today... he's suffering a bit from allergies already. Must be all this mid-fifty degree weather and then switch to snowy weather we've had lately. Tomorrow is to be mid-sixties so I'm thinking some Benedryl is in order for him.
Just a funny wide-angle photo of Cohen... Seems to have given him some extra chubby cheeks. He was eating his favorite snack these days. Cheerios.

Little Tiger Clubs

Kanyon always enjoys going golfing with Steve. He even went last Saturday with him while he golfed 18 holes with my brothers, and he was a trooper the whole time which is amazing because I get tired of golfing after 9. So, Steve decided that he wanted to get him started playing a little bit and sent me out to buy him some golf clubs.
I think obsession might be an understatement. Seriously. There have been some moments since that I've had to take the clubs away just because he wants to carry them everywhere he goes in the house. It would be fine if he wasn't banging them against my walls or accidentally dumping them out on my hardwood floors. ;)

On a side note... Cohen was in his jumperoo yesterday jumping away when I noticed that it got very quiet over where he was. I found this:
He jumped himself to sleep. :) How cute is his little mouth hanging open? And because I didn't want to disturb him and he looked pretty comfortable, I just let him take his nap that way. He woke up jumping again with the biggest eyes ever. It was pretty funny.

First Soccer Game

We are alive over here... barely, after a very loooooong week of sickness that isn't quite over yet. Cohen has it now and is right in the thick of it, poor little guy. Steve and I look forward to a bit more sleep in the very near future as we are both exhausted. So far, I still haven't caught what everyone else has had. *knocks on wood*

On to other things! We have been doing a little bit. Kanyon was feeling better by about Thursday, but missed his first soccer game earlier in the week from being sick. So, by Saturday, he was ready to play in their next game. Steve and Cohen didn't come because they both were still not feeling great... neither was Scarlett, but she would not take no for an answer and sometimes you just don't fight those battles with her. ;)

I was a little confused with how this soccer thing was going to work because they don't have practices. They just show up for games and maybe practice a skill for 10 minutes before the game. Kanyon didn't know much about soccer, so he was a bit nervous and intimidated that first game. He needed lots of direction and he mostly hung back and did what his teammates did. After they rotated him out the first time, he got a little teary and told me he didn't want to go back in. But, after some encouragement and a good pep-talk from Mom, he was back in and having fun again. We decided that Dad needs to take him out each night and practice with him and help him gain a little confidence. :)

He sure looked cute out there in his gear though!

He and his team practicing before the game.

Kanyon getting a little direction from his coach on the field. He was a bit lost. haha!
They just play 3 on 3, which I like. Better chances of actually getting a kick in here and there. ;)
Scarlett cheering her brother on.
Throwing it in.
Kicking it off.
He has another game tomorrow night and tonight Steve and he were outside practicing. I hope his confidence is improving and I'm sure having his Dad at his game will help a lot. :)
